Now, this is a really key thing to consider for a family bathroom. With several people sharing one bathroom, things can get quite messy!
The bathroom storage you choose really depends on the amount of space you have available. If you’re lucky enough to have plenty of space then you'll have more options available to you. A wide vanity unit will provide more storage space, whilst still giving you the functionality you need.
However, if you're tight on space, combination units are great. They supply all the essential elements you need in your bathroom (basin and toilet) but also give you space to store away the eyesores that accumulate over time.

Colour it
Just because your bathroom needs to be child-friendly doesn't mean it needs to be entirely child-focused. Which means no themed wallpaper or rainbow colour schemes!
Handy hint: Keep your walls and floor to one main subtle colour and then add splashes of colour.
Picking your accessories in a bright colour to contrast is a really simple way to add some personality and a bit of fun to your room.
Another really simple and cool idea is to have individual towels, so each member of your family has a different shade of your chosen colour. Not only is this great for stopping squabbles over towels but it also helps throw in another splash of colour.

Cover it up
If there’s one (or actually 2 things) you’ll need to pay special attention to in a family-friendly bathroom, it’s your walls and floors. As we’re all aware, children aren’t the most careful when it comes to splashing water about, so you’ll want to make sure all your surfaces are nice and watertight.
Tiles are a great option for a family bathroom. Not only do they come in a variety of colours and styles, but they are so easy to wipe clean if there have been any spillages (which, let's face it, in a family bathroom, is likely to happen).
A fully tiled bathroom looks undeniably chic
If you’re tiling the floor too, you’ll need to make sure your little ones are supervised when using the bathroom. Try to pick out tiles with good anti-slip properties or, better still, check out the range of stylish, yet hardwearing vinyl and laminate flooring options available.
If tiles aren’t quite your thing, or you’re looking to save money, why not consider shower wall panels. Despite the name, these can be fitted right around your bathroom, come in a variety of stylish colours and designs, and, with no grout lines where mould can develop, will look great for many years to come.
Bath, shower or both?
Again, this decision will be based on the space you have available.
Bath time is a lovely family ritual and is often seen as a relaxing way to end your day, and although it's not an essential feature, it really does make family life a little easier. Having a separate shower is great if you have both young and older children, but can only work if you have the space.
If you're short on space, a shower bath is the perfect compromise, really giving you the best of both worlds.
