Your choice of shower door matters

Shower doors are a personal choice and one which can have a real impact on your bathroom. Pivot shower doors or hinged shower doors, for example, are fine when there’s plenty of space in and around your shower enclosure. However, for those smaller bathrooms, like ensuites, sliding shower doors or even bifold shower doors, which open inwards, may be more beneficial.

If you have a recess or alcove in your bathroom, you may not need a full shower enclosure at all. In this instance, you can simply choose a shower door that fits the width of the recess with the type of opening that suits your space. Complement with a shower, shower tray and either tiles or shower wall panels, for a fabulous shower cubicle.

Of course, for those who want easy access to their shower, a walk in shower, which comes without a door, is a superb option.

Walk in showers

Walk in shower enclosures are a great way to open up your bathroom space, keeping things light, bright and airy. With large expanses of glass and subtle frames, walk in showers offer a seamless look for your space. You’ll find a variety of options, including sizes, frames and glass thickness, to provide you with the perfect option. Choosing your glass thickness

When the time comes to select your shower enclosure, which glass thickness should you choose? Generally, thicker glass is seen as more desirable, sturdy and robust, which is why you’ll find different price points for each type of glass.

For the budget-conscious, 4mm to 6mm glass is a great choice, offering all the quality and durability you’ll need. However, if you’re looking to achieve a more designer look, 8mm or even 10mm glass is a fabulous, premium option.

And, you’ll be pleased to know all our shower enclosures, doors and shower bath screens contain British Standard safety glass, which means they have all been thoroughly tested and carry the BSI Kitemark™. Safety glass is designed to shatter if, in the rare circumstance, it was to suffer a hard impact. This is much safer than leaving dangerous, jagged edges which could cause serious injury. We’re proud to exclusively supply shower enclosure glass that conforms to these rigorous standards.

All components, including seals, hinges and rollers are tested for endurance, to ensure they are tough enough to withstand the rigours of everyday use. Plus, for ease of installation, we allow generous adjustments for walls which may be out of true.

To help make maintaining your shower enclosure just that little bit easier, many of our designs come complete with an easy clean coating applied to the glass. This does exactly what it says, meaning you can spend more time enjoying your shower enclosure, instead of cleaning it.

Choosing your shower tray

In most instances, if you’re purchasing a shower enclosure, you’ll also need a shower tray to accompany it. Whilst many of our shower enclosure packages come complete with a tray, you’ll find plenty of compatible shower trays available to help you create your perfect combination.

Much like with our shower enclosures, all our shower trays are designed to be durable and hardwearing, with a range of materials available to suit your budget. Some of our most popular designs are made from acrylic-capped stone resin, allowing your shower tray to be lightweight yet incredibly hardwearing. For contemporary, minimalist bathrooms, low profile shower trays, at just 45mm in height, offer a sleek, minimalist appearance. Shower trays come in a variety of colours and many feature anti-slip properties to enhance safety in your bathroom.

Wet rooms

If you’re considering turning your bathroom into a wet room, you’re in good company! Wet rooms are highly desirable, thanks in no small part to the luxury, accessibility and added value they can bring to your home. For the uninitiated, a wet room commonly contains a shower area with a shower tray that is below the level of floor. This is usually tiled over, providing level access from all parts of the bathroom, meaning they are especially suited to those with restricted mobility.

Wet rooms often contain glass screens to help protect other items in your bathroom—like the toilet, basin and furniture—from splashes. Wet room glass screens can often be frameless, bringing a genuine designer look to your bathroom.
