Considerations around hygiene, whether washing your hands properly or being cautious about the surfaces you touch, have never been more important. Hand sanitiser and a facemask have been added to our mental checklists before we go out and, even when in the comfort of our own homes, cleanliness has jumped up the list of priorities. But that doesn’t mean we all want to live in sterile surroundings. In fact, more than ever, we’re craving comfort and beautifully designed spaces to switch off in. So, how can you balance hygiene and style, when it comes to your private sanctuary? Here are some simple tips, to help you create an easy-clean bathroom.

Find a product that does both
There are lots of products, fixtures and fittings available, that are designed to make cleaning and regular maintenance in the bathroom that little bit easier. For example, wall hung toilets, furniture and basins mean the floor is clear of obstructions, allowing you to carry out a deeper clean. By being able to reach every part of the floor, you can rest a little easier knowing you’ve cleaned away any germs or bacteria that may be lurking. As well as providing added hygiene benefits, wall hung items also make your bathroom appear larger and leave you with more floor space, making them a brilliant design choice.

Let’s get technical
When it comes to choosing your toilet, technology might not be the first thing that springs to mind, but there are products out there with clever tech seamlessly built in, which don’t compromise on design. Take it one step at a time

By swapping out your old taps and wash basins for a newer model, not only can you refresh the style of the room without breaking the bank, but you can also incorporate products that support better handwashing. We all know by now that washing your hands properly takes at least 20 seconds—that’s much trickier if you’re trying to balance the flow of hot and cold water from separate taps. Swapping to a wash basin with room for a mixer means you can keep a steady temperature, making it easier to wash your hands properly without the risk of scalding.
We may also eventually see the use of touchless and sensor-operated taps or toilet flushes within the home. Typically, these products are seen in offices, hotels or shopping centres, but as we all become more aware of stopping the spread of infection, these solutions might become more widespread in our homes.
