Waverley: A lesson in timeless design from Ideal Standard

Posted by Ruth Foster in Inspiration | 1 year ago 3 min read

Faithful to tradition, whilst looking as elegant as ever, the Waverley collection from Ideal Standard is taking it back to where it all started.

Ideal Standard has moved with the times over its 100 year history—embracing the newest technology to guarantee reliability and efficiency from its bathroom ranges. This hasn’t eroded the company’s appreciation for the classics though, and the Waverley collection is perfect for those who prefer a traditional style without compromising on performance.

The collection is the result of a working relationship with renowned designer Robin Levien that goes back to the 1970s, and an appreciation of traditional style that goes back much further. Levien returned to an authentic Edwardian style when curating the collection, designing pieces with faithfulness to the style characteristics that have made it a classic.

Comprising a range of high level or close coupled toilets, and a selection of stunning basins, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel when a design works. The Waverley collection is proof that there is still great appetite for that traditional look.

Living the high life

High level cistern toilets are a familiar feature that immediately evoke the Waverley style. They’re perfect as a standout fixture in a traditional bathroom, making a grand statement without going over the top. Ideal Standard also offers purpose-built luxury ornate cistern brackets made from chrome-plated metal. It’s a light touch, but it’s the little things that show a classic bathroom has been designed with care and attention. The Waverley collection takes pride in this approach; the small decorative details are what make these pieces classic, and care has been taken to prioritise these details at every stage of the design process.

Brilliant basins

The Waverley wash and hand rinse basins are faithful to the square lines and rectangular shape on which the design built its reputation. If you’re looking to add a classic touch to a modern bathroom, these basins offer versatility, available as wall-mounted or atop a powerful pedestal, and with one or two tap holes. Ideal Standard’s Singular™ philosophy also ensures perfect compatibility across its collections, making it that much simpler for those looking to transform their spaces.

Timeless technology

While the Waverley collection embodies traditional style, its technical design and durability are anything but. The range perfectly incorporates Ideal Standard’s renowned quality and innovative technology without interrupting the elegant finish.

A taste for the classics doesn’t have to mean a sacrifice on quality, efficiency or economy.
