Looking to bring that sparkle back to your bathroom? In our latest “Bathroom Trends” article, we show you how to work wonders with new metallic finishes.
Chrome has long been the metallic finish of choice, not just in bathrooms but right around the home. However, as I revealed in my big bathroom trends article, there is a move away from this traditional look. If you’re looking to refresh and revitalise your bathroom, maybe it’s time to tap into a brave new world of new metallics?
In this blog post, I’ll show you a whole variety of ways to make your bathroom gleam using on-trend metallic finishes, from gold to antique bronze.
Going for gold
With the Tokyo Olympics finally going ahead this year (we think!), it’s no surprise that gold metallic finishes feature high up on the leaderboard when it comes to on-trend metallic finishes.
For a long time, gold-coloured taps and bath feet proved exceedingly popular, but seemed to fall out of favour in the latter part of the last century. However, with modern manufacturing techniques allowing for longer-lasting finishes, gold is back atop the winner’s podium.
Of course, the easiest and most straightforward way to “go for gold” in your bathroom, is to simply swap out chrome taps for gold metallic counterparts. If you’re sprucing up a wall mounted basin, why not complement with a gold bottle trap and waste too?

However, if you want to go that extra step and create a truly luxurious look, why not opt for wall mounted taps?

Aside from turning a few heads with your basin taps, there are other ways to carry on the gold metallic theme in your bathroom. Here are just a couple of additional ideas.

Brush up with bronze
Far from languishing in third place, bronze is proving a real winner with homeowners up and down the country when it comes to adding metallic elements to their bathrooms. Its popularity is all down to its versatility, complementing both traditional and contemporary interior styles alike.

Antique bronze looks particularly stunning when used to create a modern vintage theme (featuring an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary items), carried on through roll top bath feet (above) and taps (below).

Back to black
If you’ve already read my recent trends article, you’ll know that black bathroom accents are proving exceptionally popular with homeowners and interior designers across the length and breadth of the UK.
Black-framed shower enclosures and screens are an obvious way to introduce a touch of black magic to your interiors, however taps, showers and plumbing accessories like bottle traps and wastes can all be used to accessorise.

With dark, mysterious and theatrical settings being yet another big bathroom trend, you really can use as much or little black metal as you like, from subtle accessories to full showering spaces.

Whilst black is a totally on-trend finish, it certainly doesn't have the glisten and glimmer of other metallics. If it's opulence you're after, why not consider rose gold?
Refresh with rose gold
Rose gold is another intriguing metallic finish and one that has become even more popular in recent years. Picking up the baton from where copper left off, rose gold is sumptuous in style—the perfect choice for luxurious bathrooms.

These are just a selection of what we're calling the "new metallics". When styling your new bathroom, keep an eye out for other items, like mirrors or picture frames, with matching metallic borders. Even your choice of tile trim or light switch pull cord handle could potentially enhance the overall look and feel of your bathroom.
