This month, we’ve been looking towards the Far East for our bathroom design inspiration.

In our first “get the look” style guide of the year, we’ve been getting creative with an Oriental Spa bathroom, and you can find out all about it by clicking on the banner below and reading part 1.

Oriental Spa products

To demonstrate just how easy it is to achieve a coordinated look, we mainly used products from our contemporary Hardy collection, exclusive to Mode Bathrooms.

This premium bathroom collection features simple, gorgeous tapered lines and curved shapes for a style that encapsulates the very latest in contemporary bathroom design.

Containing everything you need, including your suite, bath, furniture, taps and shower, there’s no need to mix and match.

We chose the following:

Bath

The Mode Hardy freestanding bath lends itself perfectly to the Oriental Spa theme.

A classic take on the classic slipper bath design, this show-stopping tub is the very essence of relaxation. The flowing lines and gentle curves complement the rest of the bathroom perfectly, plus, with no ornate or overly fussy details, it doesn’t dominate your interiors.

Shower and enclosure

If your room is too small for a freestanding bath, a shower may be a much more practical alternative. For our Oriental Spa bathroom, we’ve selected the Mode Hardy premium 8mm easy clean sliding shower door, to create a stylish shower area out of a recess.

The sliding door not only mimics the type of sliding partition that can be found in East Asian interiors but also uses space efficiently. The 8mm safety glass also comes with an easy clean coating, helping to keep your view crystal clear.

With our choice of shower, simplicity is the key. The shower head and wall arm, combined with a fully concealed valve, gives the Mode Hardy thermostatic shower valve with wall shower set a truly minimalist appearance. The round-shaped shower head fits perfectly with the curved suite.

Basin

To promote a serene and spa-like feel that the Oriental Spa look demands, we selected the Mode Hardy countertop basin. Again, simplicity is key. The clean rounded shape, with curves that echo the rest of the suite, brings real harmony to the setting.

Bringing a little “Yin” to the “Yang”, we opted for the Mode Orion slate wall hung countertop basin shelf, which looks striking with the white of the basin.

Toilet

With a look that mirrors the style of the bath, the Mode Hardy rimless back to wall toilet with soft close seat provides balance in your bathroom. The cistern has been concealed behind a partition wall for a clean, minimalist appearance, whilst the modern dual flush plate provides access, should maintenance ever be required.

Taps

Too many standing items in your Oriental Spa bathroom could hinder energy flow and disrupt the clean lines of your interiors. That’s why we opted for the matching Mode Hardy wall mounted basin mixer tap and Mode Hardy wall mounted bath mixer tap. Finished in hand-polished chrome for a glorious shine, these taps offer true minimalist style.

Furniture

Clutter is a big no-no when it comes to creating an Oriental Spa bathroom, but too many cabinets and drawers will bring disharmony. We’ve been very selective with our storage, choosing a single item.

The Mode Hardy white side wall storage is discreet but spacious, maintaining the lines of your floor tiles for unhindered energy flow. With chamfered edges, meaning the doors require no handles, it is clean and pure in its appearance. The white finish provides a natural counterbalance to the dark wall tiles.

Tiles

We used 3 different types of tile within our Oriental Spa bathroom, ranging from light to dark.

The Pure black satin tile from British Ceramic Tile provides a harmonious backdrop to your white ceramics and has been used on a number of walls and floors. The satin finish mutes light, providing the perfect amount of contrast.

From the darkness, we move to a middle ground, in the form of the Linear grey gloss tile from British Ceramic Tile. This has been used in and around the shower and basin area, adding a more reflective surface that enhances the feel of light and space. The subtle design injects thin lines into your décor, something that is commonly found in Far Eastern interiors.

Moving to the opposite end of the scale, we finally arrive at the lighter shades in the form of the Bark white wood effect white matt tiles from British Ceramic Tile. Not only do these gorgeous tiles provide the perfect contrast to the darker tiles, but they also help inject a natural feel into your décor.
