Stylist’s Selection: Nicky’s top bathroom picks for February

Stylist's Selection

As an experienced home stylist, I love to create beautiful interiors that will inspire you to design your very own dream bathroom.

Each month, I’ll be carefully selecting my top picks from our wide range of bathroom products here at Victoria Plum, creating a mood board, suggesting accessories and explaining just why I think these products are great!

This month, I’m looking at some of the luxurious traditional products from The Bath Co., so you can create an authentic period style bathroom in your own home.

My favourite bath is…

February can be a pretty cold and uninspiring month, so what better way to spend those dark evenings than in your very own freestanding tub? My favourite is the Dulwich grey roll top bath, which comes in an inviting shade of grey.

Featuring on-trend white ball and claw feet, these look great on any patterned floor. The bath has sloped sides for maximum comfort and supports a tap deck on the side, so you can add a genuinely personal touch with your favourite bath shower mixer.

My favourite bath tap is…

My preferred bath tap for this look is Dulwich bath shower mixer from Orchard Bathrooms. It comes with a classic telephone style handset and holder, producing an authentic period look and feel. Fitting seamlessly with the grey bath, the overall look and feel is pure luxury and indulgence.

My favourite vanity unit is…

Our new Winchester vanity unit and basin in white is the perfect pairing for any vintage style bathroom. It includes soft close door hinges, for a high quality feel. With ample storage, you can hide away all those products you’d rather not have on show, which is a great way to make your bathroom look considered and organised.

To complement the unit, I have opted for the Winchester basin mixer tap with white ceramic handles that also blend seamlessly with the white feet on the bath.

My favourite radiator is…

We have a great range of traditional radiators at Victoria Plum, however, the one that really warms my heart on a cold February morning is the Santa Fe traditional radiator from The Heating Co.

It’s the attention to detail that does it for me, with a traditional enamelled column centre, chrome-plated, mild steel framework and even an additional rail to warm your towels. If you’re short on space don’t worry, a smaller version is available.

My favourite flooring is…

I absolutely love a patterned floor! Not only does it make a great statement in a bathroom, but it also adds texture, colour and, most of all, personality to your space.

With my passion for tiles, I found it really difficult to pick just one suggestion—so I’ve gone for two! You can decide which best suits your personality more.

For flooring that is subtle and elegant, choose these heritage tiles from the Laura Ashley Mr Jones range

My favourite accessories are…

No bathroom should be complete without a mirror. I’ve chosen an authentic traditional style mirror with a faux-rustic finish. It adds shape and with the thin border is still incredibly elegant.

Other “must-have” accessories include hanging picture frames. They are massively on-trend and a great way to stamp your mark on your bathroom design. Go for empty frames and press your own feathers or flowers, or add souvenirs such as concert tickets or train tickets from your travels. A truly personal touch.

After a long, relaxing soak in your new roll top bath, you’ll definitely need a bath mat. I’ve gone for the luxury bamboo brick graphite mat, which is part of our new range of Hug Rugs. The grey will tie in all your accessories and the print feels very traditional. It replicates the look of on-trend metro tiles too.

100% bio-degradable and made from one of the most sustainable materials in the world, you can be satisfied that you’re doing your bit for the environment

Finally, scents! A sweet-smelling bathroom is just as important as your choice of bathroom suite, so why not add some scented candles and reed diffusers? They’re great after a long, busy day!

My favourite is black poppy as it is such an uplifting yet relaxing aroma. The candles will fit perfectly with this luxurious traditional bathroom setting.
