Get your home ready for Christmas: The guest bedroom

Posted by Adam Chard in Inspiration | 7 years ago 5 min read

Can you feel it yet? That frisson of excitement, the nip in the air, that well-known caffeinated soft drink advert on the telly...

Holidays are comin' and what could be more festive than having visitors to stay?

Preparing for your house guests can be even more stressful than choosing presents, so why not let us help you out a little? With our handy Christmas guides, we can help you revamp and refresh those areas of your home which need a bit of TLC.

We've already looked at christmas ideas for your small cloakroom bathroom, so now it's time to move upstairs to the guest bedroom.

Guest bedroom ideas

If you have friends or relatives staying this Christmas, maybe it's time to turn that spare bedroom, that has become nothing more than a dumping ground, into something more respectable?

Bed

Improving your guest bedroom may simply be a matter of replacing that rickety old single bed or upgrading from a blow-up mattress or pull out bed. Adding a double bed can also be a godsend. Not only does it give you further options when it comes to sleeping arrangements, it can also provide you with some much-needed storage.

Revamping a guest bedroom can be tricky. On the one hand, you won't want to spend too much, but on the other hand, you still want your friends and relatives to be able to get a good night's sleep.

Search any reputable bedroom retailer and you'll find a wide range of superb beds and mattresses that certainly don't cost the earth, but will leave your guests feeling comfortable and refreshed. I mean, who needs frosty looks over the breakfast table?

Bedroom furniture

If your guests are staying for more than a day or so, they'll need somewhere to store clothes and personal items. A bed plonked in the middle of the room, and nothing else, simply won't cut it!

At the bare minimum, your guests will expect a bedside table (the ideal spot for a mobile phone, tablet or a good old-fashioned book), a chest of drawers for foldable clothing and a wardrobe with hanging space for those all-important party outfits.

If you are starting from scratch with your guest bedroom, or simply want to add something that matches or looks more modern, something like the oak furniture pictured below is effortlessly stylish. Add the following for a quick and easy guest bedroom:

  • 2 drawer bedside cabinet
  • 3 + 3 chest of drawers
  • 2 door, 1 drawer wardrobe

Walls

A lick of paint could be all that's required to transform your guest bedroom from blah to fabulous. Why not try something a little different, like greys or purples, to make things feel a little more contemporary? Take a look at our Craig & Rose 1829 paint for further inspiration.

Remember, if you order now, you can get your guest bedroom up together well ahead of the Christmas rush! Keep an eye out for offers on bedroom furniture and save even more.
