Meet Louise
Louise Dear is one of the UK’s most impressive contemporary artists and her ambition is simple: To create beautiful paintings. And with our passion for beautiful bathrooms, it feels like the perfect partnership!
Famous for producing bright, exciting, vibrant paintings and experimenting with materials, textures and techniques, Louise spent much of her formative years in such exotic locations as South Africa and the Far East, before settling in Hampshire. However, after studying fashion design, wanderlust took hold and Louise set off around Europe in a honey pink-coloured 1963 Bedford ambulance.
Despite returning to the British Isles, it wasn’t long before Louise was again exploring the world, travelling through India, South East Asia and eventually Australia, where she became an Exhibition Designer for Lego.
Louise finally returned to the UK, where she gave birth to her daughter Lama, before returning to full time education. In 1998, Louise graduated and began life as a full-time artist.
Working from her studios in Hampshire and the South of France, Louise continues to produce vibrant and colourful works of art. Some of Louise’s most well-known paintings are subtly provocative, portraying glamorous young ladies as both innocent and worldly-wise. And it is 4 of these paintings which have inspired our new collection of bathroom suites and products, which are exclusive to VictoriaPlum.com.
Louise says: “My works are bold and vibrant, so lending themselves to adding a unique splash of colour to a beautiful bathroom. After the initial impact of the image, the intricate shapes, flowers and creatures become apparent with always more to discover.”

Kiss Kiss Bam Bam
As the powerful name might suggest, this gorgeous bathroom is designed to make a real statement.
Based on “Kiss Kiss Bam Bam” (the original of which you’ll find in the Timmy Green restaurant in Buckingham Palace Road, London), the showstopper in this room is the elegant freestanding bath with traditional ball and claw feet. To complement the colours in the design, we’ve opted for green/blue herringbone patterned tiles, plus a classic low level toilet and pedestal basin.
Louise says: “Kiss Kiss Bam Bam was inspired by my beautiful girl, my muse, my daughter… the love of my life and my favourite subject to paint.”

The Serenade
With “The Serenade”, bold, bright, floral colours envelop the senses and stimulate the mind. The full length shower wall panel helps to create an awe-inspiring backdrop to any bathroom or ensuite. Louise says: “The Serenade is a psalm, a love song to motherhood, family, kinship and love.”

Wow! Just, wow! This is precisely what you’ll be saying when you see “Coo..ee!” in all its glory. The vivid blues contained within the shower wall panel are massively on-trend and we’ve continued the theme in the form of navy blue bevelled metro tiles, combined with crisp, clean white wall hung storage and a contemporary wall hung toilet.
Louise says: “Coo..ee! is a cutie! Inspired by 1950s pinups, she’s a flirtatious temptress, seducing us whilst fluttering those mascara laden lashes surrounding her “come hither” eyes.”

Yum Yum
“Yum Yum” was created when Louise fell in love and you can certainly experience the explosion of sheer joy, colour and passion of this period in Louise’s life. Based around the full-size shower wall panel, you can create a bathroom that is bursting with exuberance.
We’ve put the shower wall panel front and centre in this room and combined with on-trend grey metro tiles and a contemporary suite, letting this fabulous artwork do all the storytelling.
Louise says: “My heart swells with the crashing of the waves, the warmth of the sun on my bare flesh, the budding of a bloom, the swooshing of the golden grass, the delicious smell of my warm lover snuggled next to me. It’s the expression of all these “yum yum” sensations.”
