Re-energise your enclosure and bring the sparkle back to your shower with these 5 time-saving spring cleaning tips from Mira Showers.

It’s fair to say that one of the last, yet most important, rooms in your home you'll get round to spring cleaning is your bathroom. Given that this room is all about making yourself clean, it’s amazing how dirty it can become! That’s why we asked the UK’s No. 1 showering manufacturer—Mira Showers—for some quick and easy cleaning tips to help freshen up your bathroom.

1. Streak-free shower enclosures

Leaving your shower enclosure glass with a streak-free shine is arguably one of the most challenging parts of spring cleaning your bathroom. The experts at Mira Showers recommend using a 50/50 vinegar and water solution to help clear any built-up grime and residue on their glass shower doors. This acidic solution is a tried and tested household remedy. To help maintain this streak-free look, a shower squeegee is a cost-effective and easy solution. Simply use it to wipe down your shower enclosure after showering.

2. Sparkling shower trays

When it comes to cleaning your shower tray, try and avoid using gritty or abrasive cleaners as these may end up damaging it. Instead opt for hot, soapy water to wipe down the tray surface. If you’re looking for a new shower tray, the Mira Flight Safe range is the perfect choice. Made from acrylic-capped resin stone, Mira Flight Safe shower trays are built to last whilst being scratch, chip and discolouration resistant. Coated using clever BioCote® technology which reduces mould and bacteria growth by up to 99.9%, Mira Flight Safe trays are designed to stay clean.

3. Refresh your showerhead

Given time, limescale can build-up in your showerhead, in the same way that it would in your kettle or iron, causing water flow to decrease, impacting your showering performance. Limescale is the milky white deposit left by calcium carbonate, which gathers everywhere there is water— especially in hard water areas.

There are a few simple, household remedies you can use to clean your showerhead without having to spend money on new cleaning products. Put simply, limescale is defeated by acidic liquids, so lemon and vinegar are perfect solutions to use when cleaning. Simply unscrew your showerhead, and place it in a container, then pour vinegar into the container so the showerhead face is covered. Leave it for between 30 minutes and an hour to soak, then remove and rinse with water to clear away the limescale residue.

4. Brighten up your taps

In a similar way to showerheads, bathroom taps can be another place where limescale can build-up if you don't maintain them. As taps are often a difficult shape to clean, try soaking a rag or cloth in either lemon juice or vinegar and secure with an elastic band. Leave for an hour, wipe away the limescale and clean with water.

5. Brush up your tiles

Sometimes the simplest methods are the most effective! To freshen up your [bathroom tiles] try using an old toothbrush to reach in between the tiles and clean the grout lines. Combine this with the 50/50 vinegar and water solution that we suggested for your shower enclosure. For the really tough stains, mix baking soda with water until it forms a paste-like consistency and apply.
