Shower enclosure suite buying guide

Posted by Adam Chard in Buying guides | 2 years ago 4 min read

Whether you're updating an ensuite or simply prefer a shower to a bath, we'll explain everything you need to know about shower enclosure suites before you buy.

Here at Victoria Plum we have a comprehensive range of shower enclosure suites to suit all shapes and all sizes of bathroom. In this bite-size buying guide, we'll provide you with a little more information so you can get a head start in your search.

What exactly is a shower enclosure suite?

Shower enclosure suites are a set of coordinating items for your bathroom that include a shower enclosure, a toilet and a basin. The difference between a shower enclosure suite and a full bathroom suite is that instead of the bath, the shower enclosure is the main element of the suite.

For a more traditional look, the Winchester ensuite suite from Orchard Bathrooms comes complete with vintage style toilet, basin and enclosure

To save on your overall costs, you'll find a superb selection of shower enclosure suite bundles, containing many of our bestselling items. Each bundle will contain, at the very least, a toilet, basin and shower enclosure. This will usually, also, include the shower tray. Some also include a shower, taps plus plumbing accessories, like wastes. Always carefully check what is included before you buy.

What types of shower enclosure suites are suitable for a small bathroom?

Quadrant shower enclosures sit snugly in the corner of your room, so they are a great choice for a small bathroom. Many are made with sliding shower doors, which also take up minimal space (though you can opt for hinged doors). It’s an incredibly compact option that is designed to give you maximum showering space within the enclosure.

We have a vast range of shower enclosure suites which means that you can easily find the right style, size and price to suit your needs and taste.

Each suite is made up of units from one of our exclusive collections, plus other established brands, like RAK. To get the look you’re after, you should choose the collection first, and then the type of enclosure you want.

Are there any tips for choosing a shower enclosure suite, and what else should I consider when making my choice?

Here are a few of the things you need to think about when making your choice:

Shower door

Different styles of shower door suit different spaces, both in terms of having the right look, and the right type of functionality. If you want one that opens outwards, you’ll need more floor space available than if you choose a sliding or bifold door. Make the right choice for the amount of space you have available.

Shower door or enclosure unit?

If you have a recessed shower or alcove, you only need to purchase a shower door. If you need to create the whole shower space, then you’ll need a complete shower enclosure unit (door and panels).

Measure, and measure again

Measure your space accurately, so you know exactly what options are available to you. It’s always worth noting down the dimensions of your bathroom and/or making some basic sketches before you start looking. You could even use our 3D bathroom planner. Having a good idea of the shape and size of your space will help narrow down your choices and make the decision-making process as smooth as possible. Take a look at our handy guide to measuring your bathroom.

Where will your shower enclosure sit?

Knowing exactly where you want your enclosure will help you choose the right size and shaped unit. Taking sketches and measurements (as mentioned above) will help you map out and plan your space.

There’s a lot to consider when choosing a shower enclosure suite. Use our guide as a starting point, and then browse our extensive range at Victoria Plum to find your perfect choice.
