Named Colour of the Year 2019 by Dulux, Spiced Honey is set to take the world of interior design by storm. Continuing our year-long celebration of The Great British Bathroom, we’ll show you how to use similar shades in your bathroom.
Described as “the Queen Bee of colour” by Marianne Shillingford, the Creative Director at Dulux, there’s certainly a buzz around Spiced Honey, nominated as their flagship colour for 2019. Although, “colour of the year” has become something of a competition between different expert authorities in recent times.
Pantone, the guardian of all colours, have also announced their own colour of the year. Following on from Ultra-Violet in 2018, their chosen colour for 2019 is Living Coral, described as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energises and enlivens with a softer edge”. Or, in layman’s terms, a vibrant yet gentle pink.
Selected by a panel of experts, every “colour of the year” should represent emerging interior design trends, reflecting not just what’s popular in design but also providing a snapshot of the world and its current climate.
What is Spiced Honey and is it suitable for bathrooms?
Described as a warming shade that sits somewhere between rich caramel and earthy brown, Spiced Honey may sound more like an autumnal colour, however, it really can be used all year round. Other words used to describe the new colour on the block are “sophisticated, grounded and positive”, so if these are characteristics you’re looking to add to your home, this might just be the shade for you.
As a bathroom colour, it really couldn’t be more perfect. Working well with both neutral palettes and white schemes (which, let’s face it, your bathroom will contain a lot of), it’s guaranteed to add a contemporary edge to your décor.
Using a similar shade in your bathroom
Here at Victoria Plum, we’ve selected a similar colour which is calming, organic and mature. “Time for tea”, part of the Craig & Rose 1829 paint range, is a versatile shade which can be incorporated into a range of colour palettes.
Reconnecting us with the environment and the planet which we share, “Time for tea” emits a sense of nature, which is perfect for eco-aware lifestyles and could be seamlessly paired with a minimalistic, natural style bathroom.
Much like Spiced Honey, this is a grounded colour which can be uplifted depending on your choice of complementary colours. It’ll also add a dash of elegance, when paired with marble and other simple designs, warming up any space when used as a main accent colour.
So, what are you waiting for? Why not brew up the perfect design with “Time for tea”?
