As part of my monthly style roundup, I’ll be picking out some of my favourite products, including some that are brand new to our range, so you can create the bathroom you’ve always wanted.
With springtime just around the corner, I’ve been looking at ways to make your room feel light, bright and spacious, utilising that natural light we’ve all been missing out on during those dark and gloomy winter months.
Coastal style can help to bring a fresh, outdoors feel to your bathroom. It’s a theme we’ve explored before and remains one of the most popular looks for bathrooms in the UK.
The products I’ve picked to complement this style come from Mode Bathrooms, so the look is on-trend and highly contemporary, breathing new life into a tired old bathroom space.
My favourite vanity unit is…
I absolutely adore the new Burton furniture range from Mode Bathrooms, especially the white & rustic oak wall hung vanity unit (pictured below). The mix of wood finishes allows you to incorporate a more natural look into a predominantly white suite, while the curved edges give it a softer feel.
The look fits perfectly with a coastal theme, thanks to the curved shape which reminds me of the bow of a boat. The natural wood finish is light, plus there’s loads of storage space too, to help keep your bathroom uncluttered and pristine.
My favourite taps are…
There’s something absolutely delightful about the taps from the Heath range. The minimalist design with an in-line lever complements the lines of the vanity unit perfectly.
The look is clean and straight—almost shipshape in its appearance—perfect for a coastal look.
My favourite storage is…
If your bathroom is all at sea, with all manner of lotions, potions and toiletries cluttering up your surfaces, you’ll no doubt want to bring some order to proceedings.
These Manhattan storage boxes (pictured below) are absolutely perfect for stowing away all those items that don’t have a natural home.
The two boxes are different sizes, meaning there’s a distinct lack of uniformity, plus, with a distressed, washed-out wood finish, they really embody the coastal look. I also just love the little inspirational messages that have been added to them!
My favourite tiles are…
Grey needn’t bring to mind a drizzly day out at the seaside. With my choice of tiles you can really transform your walls, keeping your décor on an even keel.
The clay grey matt tiles from British Ceramic Tile (pictured below) are absolutely fantastic. Producing a slightly more industrial look and feel, the light grey tiles can be used in different orientations, resulting in an interesting patterned appearance.

For a slightly more rustic finish to the look, add some of the Mosaic stone beige gloss tiles (pictured below), also from British Ceramic Tile. They can easily be used to create a feature, like a border, or used behind your basin as a splashback.

My favourite colour is…
It may seem obvious, but navy blue is the perfect colour for any coastal bathroom. Wonderfully bold, powerful and reminiscent of the sea, there are many ways to add navy blue to your décor.
One simple method is to accessorise with towels. The Supreme navy towel bale (pictured below) is a great buy alongside the rest of your bathroom products. Made from 100% Egyptian cotton and designed to keep you toasty warm, your bathroom will be the only thing that’s looking a little “blue”!
Further inspiration…
Of course, it’s not all about the big things in your bathroom. Accessories don’t have to be purely decorative, they can be functional too.
Here are a few ideas that might just float your boat!
- Wicker lampshades or baskets for a natural feel
- Round rugs for a softer finish to match your furniture
- A mirror with rustic wooden surround and rope hanging straps
- Plants to improve air quality
- Wooden toothbrushes to match the theme
