Choosing the perfect colours and patterns for your bathroom can be tricky. Luckily, in celebration of The Great British Bathroom, we’ve done all the hard work for you, with these 9 stylish wall and floor ideas.
Down at the VictoriaPlum.com design studio, we’ve been busy selecting our exciting new range of tiles and flooring, ready for 2020.
I’m Nicky and I’m the in-house stylist here at VictoriaPlum.com. I’ve selected my top picks from the bunch and I’ll tell exactly why each one is a brilliant option for your bathroom revamp, plus, I’ll also show you which other tiles work well with them too.
1. Rustic pattern
I chose the Aragon geo tile in grey because it has a simple and versatile pattern with an authentic rustic finish. I think this tile would contrast beautifully against a traditional basin or a claw foot freestanding bath from The Bath Co.
This neutral shade can also be incorporated into a wide range of colour schemes. For example, if you’re looking for something bold and vibrant, why not go for a deep blue or a moss green? If you like a more subtle touch and want the floor to take centre stage, try a crisp white wall or a flat metro tile too.
Looks great with:
- Maxi Metro subway white bevelled gloss wall tile 100mm x 300mm
- Annecy ivory matt wall tile 75mm x 150mm
- Mode Langley acacia wood effect matt wall and floor tile 200mm x 1200mm
- Hawthorne maple wood effect matt wall and floor tile 165mm x 1000mm
2. Floral feature
The Lucena Flor tile is a brilliant option for a vintage style bathroom. It boasts a bold pattern with a floral edge—perfect for a statement floor or feature wall. The colouring is only subtle, so if you’re looking to add just a dash of vibrancy, this could be the one for you.
To accessorise, why not pick out one of the blue shades and match with towels and other objects?
Patterned, feature flooring is the go-to design technique for an on-trend statement bathroom that isn’t too overbearing.
Looks great with:
- Annecy sky blue matt wall tile 75mm x 150mm
- Maxi Metro subway midnight blue bevelled gloss wall tile 100mm x 300mm
- Mode Ontario anthracite stone effect matt wall and floor tile 615mm x 615mm
- Bordeaux white flat gloss wall tile 200mm x 457mm
3. Deep blue delight
I’d be crazy not to add metro tiles as one of my top picks. I love a classic metro! I’ve selected the Deep Metro tile in dark blue as it has a prominent bevelled edge for a classic look.
Blue is one of the most common colours for bathrooms and interiors in general, adding much-needed character. Dark and moody interiors have become very popular in recent months, so this deep blue is the perfect option.
Brighten it up against a white metro tile, painted wall or add another level of sophistication with a white freestanding bath and accessories.
Looks great with:
- Krono xonic Buccaneer waterproof vinyl flooring
- Geneva white stone effect matt wall and floor tile 450mm x 450mm
- Polar white marble effect matt wall and floor tile 600mm x 600mm
4. Orange arrangement
If you like to think of yourself as a bit of a trendsetter, this is the tile for you! The deep orange is super contemporary, offering an upgrade from the classic metro tile. With a longer shape, it looks incredible when fitted in a herringbone pattern. It was the stunning colour that made this tile jump out at me—deep burnt oranges and subtle sand colours are all the rage for home interiors at the moment.
The pattern on the tile also adds another creative element, making it ideal for a feature wall or splashback. The geometric design combined with the colour adds a very bohemian feel and would look brilliant against a floral pattern or accent. You could also pair this with a deep navy blue for a bold statement.
Looks great with:
- Valencia Ana traditional matt wall and floor tile 200mm x 200mm
- Accents Zenith green patterned gloss wall tile 100mm x 300mm
- Meridien black stone effect matt wall and floor tile 308mm x 615mm
- Mode Amadeus black stone effect matt wall and floor tile 600mm x 600mm
5. Soft and subtle
This tile really caught my eye. I just love how subtle both the colour and pattern are. It seems to have quite a mystical and fantastical feel about it whilst also hinting at futuristic bathroom designs.
The iridescent effect on the tile adds a very contemporary edge. It would be the perfect way to add a creative backdrop to your bathroom without impacting too much on the overall design. It’s a very clean looking tile—perfect for a minimalist style bathroom.
Softer shades have become very popular for their calming appeal and as the bathroom is most certainly a place to relax, I think it’s the perfect combination.
Looks great with:
- Polar white marble effect matt wall and floor tile 600mm x 600mm
- Mode Ontario white stone effect matt wall and floor tile 615mm x 615mm
- Volta white stone effect flat matt wall and floor tile 600mm x 600mm
- Glacier white textured feature gloss wall tile 100mm x 200mm
6. Marvellous marble
The Polar marble effect tile is yet another go-to tile for me. Offering a classically luxurious look, it’ll never fail to impress.
It can also be used in a range of settings from traditional vintage to clean and contemporary. Pair it with golden taps and thick grey towels for a truly opulent bathroom setting.
Looks great with:
- Lucena Leya traditional matt wall and floor tile 450mm x 450mm
- Maxi Metro subway dark grey bevelled gloss wall tile 100mm x 300mm
- Mode Carlton black wood effect matt wall and floor tile 200mm x 1200mm
- Valencia Fe traditional matt wall and floor tile 200mm x 200mm
7. Chevron chic
I selected the Faus Chevron vintage flooring for its pattern, colour and diversity. Herringbone patterns have really soared in popularity in recent years and 2020 will be the best year yet to bag yourself a statement floor using this style.
The colours are rich enough and bold enough to add a powerful touch, whilst the pattern adds texture to the room.
You can use this flooring to create an urban or industrial chic style bathroom by adding black taps, a black-framed enclosure and deep grey accessories. You could also dress this look into a traditional setting creating the perfect surround for a classic roll top bath.
Looks great with:
- Glacier white textured feature gloss wall tile 150mm x 400mm
- Maxi Metro subway midnight blue bevelled gloss wall tile 100mm x 300mm
- Bordeaux white flat gloss wall tile 200mm x 457mm
8. Tonal texture
The Amadeus grey stone tile is simple and minimalist in style—the perfect way to add texture into a room. When you think of a bathroom, it’s generally filled with white objects, like the toilet, bath and basin. It’s all too easy to forget that you need texture to make a room feel alive, balanced and inviting.
This tile is perfect. The subtle soft grey colour and concrete effect finish are just enough to add that much-needed texture. Perfect as an all-over floor tile, you can also incorporate it into the walls in the form of a splashback or even in a shower space.
It’s the perfect choice for a minimalist style bathroom space, producing a simple look and relaxing edge. You can even dress it up into a more industrial style by adding a metal-framed shower, black taps and bold metal accessories.
Looks great with:
- Bordeaux taupe flat gloss wall tile 200mm x 457mm
- Bordeaux aqua green flat gloss wall tile 200mm x 457mm
- Mode Carlton black wood effect matt wall and floor tile 200mm x 1200mm
- Mode Ontario anthracite stone effect matt wall and floor tile 615mm x 615mm
9. In the pink
Last but not least, I’ve picked out the beautiful Annecy powder pink wall tile in a gloss finish.
Millennial Pink took centre stage last year, not to mention Dulux’s colour of the year Living Coral, and I think this powder pink is a perfect upgrade ready for 2020.
This tile is perfect for someone who isn’t afraid to make a statement. It features a beautifully feminine edge whilst still being subtle in shape and size.
I think this tile would look beautiful as part of a feature wall in a shower or behind a freestanding bath, especially when used in a herringbone format. If you pair with another colour like duck egg blue, mink or light grey, it will create a look that’s designed to turn heads!
Looks great with:
- Annecy light grey gloss wall tile 75mm x 150mm
- Annecy mink matt wall tile 75mm x 150mm
- Annecy duck egg gloss wall tile 75mm x 150mm
- The Bath Co. Toledo Adora traditional matt wall and floor tile 200mm x 200mm
