Bachelor pad bathroom style guide

Posted by Adam Chard in Style guides | 8 years ago 4 min read

Are you looking to make your home a stylish and sophisticated man den?

If you are, then you want to help you build your very own bachelor pad. Here at VictoriaPlum.com, we cater for all types of design needs and this style guide is sure to give you the starting blocks you require.

What is bachelor pad style?

A minimalist style which manages to deliver opulence on a small scale, a bachelor pad is the ultimate male abode. A modern bachelor pad is all about glossy finishes and block colours, but the style is fairly flexible (animal print and satin sheets certainly aren’t a necessity!).

How to create a bachelor pad bathroom

When creating your bachelor pad bathroom you need to think carefully about the space you have on offer. A key feature of the style is to maximise every inch you have at your disposal, so keep furniture minimal and opt for integrated units wherever possible.

We have a great range of countertop basins set atop storage units, and this is an ideal way to bring storage seamlessly into your bathroom. However, if you prefer something even more radical why not remove storage altogether and opt for the clean lines of wall mounted basins and wall hung toilets? A wall mounted rack can help keep toiletries within reach without affecting the overall style of the room.

Another thing to remember is that fabric and material is a strong feature so you’ll need to introduce this wherever possible. Leather is the number one choice so look for leather bound artwork for the walls.

Elsewhere, use dark finishes on units and accessories to create contrast. Deep, rich woods like wenge are good for any furniture you decide to add.

If this sounds a little too far then use the style in reverse, keeping the traditional white suite and furniture but using dark tiles on the floors and walls with delicate spotlights placed around key features and set in the ceiling as accents. Remember you want a high gloss finish so opt for units which look futuristic.

Every guy needs to groom to look his best – so invest in a feature mirror like the Carina backlit bathroom mirror, for that bit of extra light to aid shaving and hair styling.

Best colours

Earthly tones and masculine colours rule the roost in a bachelor pad so banish pinks, yellows and creams to the bin and get your hands on these instead:

  • White and black
  • Warm, deep browns and dark greys
  • Lighter browns, beige and dark reds

Key features

With room for individuality, your bachelor pad can include pretty much whatever you want. Here are a few common features you might want to consider:

  • Dark tiles on the walls and floor to contrast with white bathroom suites
  • Plain blinds and window dressings
  • Modern gadgets and chrome accessories for a futuristic look
  • Modern spotlights set in the ceiling, floors and beneath furniture for accents
  • Leather accessories where possible
  • A large, illuminated mirror to aid personal grooming
