The Serenade: the inspiration
The Serenade is one of Louise’s most famous paintings and the inspiration behind The Serenade bathroom collection.
Carrying on from our first interview, where we chatted about her famous painting Kiss Kiss Bam Bam, we chatted with Louise, to discover more about the inspiration behind The Serenade.
You mentioned you were inspired by the sunrise. Please tell us more...
I LOVE the sunrise and try to see it most days wherever I am and particularly when rising and reflecting over water. It simply fills me with warmth and joy, representing a new dawning of a new day and the excitement of unknown adventures to come.
Many years ago, I spent time in Varanasi in India. One day I was up before dawn to take a boat trip along The Ganges and watch the sunrise over this spiritual capital. It was sensational. I was young and innocent and the emotion and sentiment I felt in this ancient sacred land in the golden glowing dawn, has stayed with me always. I often use this symbol to portray the peace and harmony I felt and try to carry with me always.
Are there features in the artwork that you are particularly fond of? If so, what are they and why did you incorporate them?
The Serenade is a psalm, a love song to motherhood, family, kinship and love. There are 7 fluttering angels each one representing a child in my family, each one portraying their unique characteristics whether it be diving bravely into the unknown, gazing wondrously at the sublime beauty of nature, charming one with their natural alluring nature and others. All unique in their fascinating and appealing way. The main figure is based on my beautiful and enchanting sister-in-law, the newest mother in our brood. A woman I have much respect for and from whom I have learnt so much.
The Serenade collection
The beautiful colours used to create The Serenade lend themselves perfectly to a bold and vibrant bathroom design. With the full length wall panel, depicting the painting itself, you can form the basis of an exciting ensuite or beautiful family bathroom.
For a shower that packs plenty of power, this fabulous rectangular enclosure comes complete with The Serenade wall panel, plus your choice of colour-matched wall panel from the Artist Collection.
For a cheerful, summer-drenched look, why not opt for the yellow wall panel instead? The offset quadrant enclosure gives you extra room in which to shower, whilst the sliding doors provide easy and unobtrusive access.
On-trend grey forms the primary colour in this beautiful shower enclosure suite, complete with frameless shower enclosure, countertop basin and shelf, plus contemporary wall hung toilet.
If you really want to push the boat out, why not lie back and relax as you admire your very own Louise Dear artwork in this gorgeous yellow freestanding tub? Complete with stunning matt grey furniture, this suite will certainly wow anyone who sees it.
The great thing about our Louise Dear collection is that you can be as creative as you like, mixing, matching and accessorising with gorgeous items in complementary colours from the Artist Collection. Much like Louise’s simple philosophy of creating beautiful paintings, we hope that you will be inspired to create your own beautiful bathroom.
