What’ll be hot in bathrooms this summer? VictoriaPlum.com Stylist Nicky Taha has picked out some of her favourite products to help you discover your perfect look.
This summer, I’ve noticed that almost all of the gorgeous, on-trend products I want to show you fit neatly into 2 overarching themes, which I’ll explain more about below. Every single one is a must-have item, perfect for those all-important social media shots. So, get your phone at the ready and don’t forget to hashtag #VPShareYourStyle.
Mindfully Organic
My first trend is “mindfully organic”, with a look that promotes a feeling of optimism and a sense of calm. It’s the perfect theme for a relaxing bathroom with a spa-like quality. The muted colours and soft shades add a touch of character without being too overbearing. Check out my mood board below.
There are plenty of organic references in this look from stone surfaces to woven baskets and greenery. It’s certainly one for plant lovers who yearn for an indoor garden as you can really indulge in hanging planters to bring this look to life. Pairing is key for this trend as it adds a healthy balance to your interiors. You can work this with a double basin, 2 colours on a tile or matching mirrors. Geometrics also get a little look in, mimicking natural forms such as cell structures and astrology—they enhance this trend with a biological essence.
If you are looking for a bathroom that allows you to be mindful, then this trend is for you. I’ve selected the following products to achieve this look.
Glacier tiles
Metro tiles are great as there are so many combinations and patterns you can create with them. A popular pattern is the classic herringbone or, for a modern twist, why not try portrait? They are even better when you combine them together with 2 or 3 finishes and colours. The new Glacier tile range comes in 3 finishes, and each tile is the same size so you can really get creative, mixing and matching to your heart’s content. Blue is also a big trend in bathrooms and the subtle patterns add some much-needed character and style.
The Bath Co. Traditional round mirror
Circular mirrors are huge at the moment and, when paired with a “his and hers” basin, they can create the most eye-catching display. I’ve chosen The Bath Co. round mirror as it also features a pivot function. This makes it excellent for a range of activities as you can angle it perfectly to suit the light at any time of the day. A brilliant option if you enjoy applying makeup and doing your hair in the bathroom.
Metro blush pink and aqua tiles
If, like me, you’ve been keeping a close eye on the latest in home interiors, you’ll most likely have seen plenty of muted pinks and baby blues around. That’s because summer is coming and many homeowners are after fresh and light décor to match their mood. In 2 very on-trend colours, these metro tiles are great for creating a tranquil bathroom that is both peaceful and mindful.
Mode Burton white heated towel rail
I don’t think you need much of an explanation as to why I’ve selected the Mode Burton white heated towel rail. It’s simply stunning! White has taken a full 180 degree turn since the 1980s and is a much-admired contemporary finish for bathroom products this season. Clean and minimal in style, it adds a contemporary finish and will also gently warm your bathroom on those cool summer evenings. It’s a great way to add personality and style without being too overbearing.
Set of 3 rice nut weave water hyacinth storage baskets with handles
These rice nut weave storage baskets are brilliant for a quick and easy summer update. Take the build-up to summer as a chance to declutter and re-organise your shelving with these gorgeous accessories. Whether you use them to store loo rolls, face cloths, soaps or bottles, they’ll certainly add a more natural and organic finish to your bathroom, not to mention much-needed texture.
Mode Morris dark concrete furniture
I’ve been waiting to share this furniture range with you for quite some time. In fact, it’s safe to say that it’s my favourite bathroom furniture range here at VictoriaPlum.com. With many people looking for more organic touches in their bathrooms, stone and concrete finishes have become increasingly popular with interior designers. Concrete is also a great way to add an urban, soft-industrial edge to your home and, when paired with an array of tropical plants, this product is Instagram ready. Put simply, it’s a must-have in the world of interior designs and influencers.
Contemporary Minimalist
My second trend is a little bolder. This one, which I’ve called “Contemporary Minimalist”, simply speaks for itself.
This look is all about being minimal with your quantity but bold and quality-driven with your products. Black has been an incredibly strong theme over the last 12 months and won’t be fading away any time soon. Bathrooms are also changing and becoming increasingly style-led as we become more daring with our home interiors. Take a look at my mood board below to get a feel for this style.
There’s not much in terms of colour in this trend, but the style of products in my selection certainly makes up for it. Simple shapes are key and thin frames add a contemporary feel. If you’re going to add something other than white or black to this theme, opt for muted colours such as ivory, mink and brown.
If you’re searching for that social media wow factor, this look is definitely for you. I’ve picked out the following hot products.
Cadiz light grey flat gloss tiles
If you’re looking to add another colour or shade into the mix, then our new light grey flat gloss tiles are a more contemporary option when compared to the classic bevelled metro tile. They are a great shape and size, to form new and interesting patterns whilst adding a subtle difference to your bathroom.
Set of 3 grey chevron bamboo storage baskets
Another new favourite, these grey chevron bamboo storage baskets will help keep things organised in your bathroom. As we all know, summer is the perfect time to declutter, and you can use these baskets to store lotions, toilet rolls or even have one tucked away in a cupboard for your medicines.
Mode Scher white furniture
Slim furniture has taken a huge leap forward in recent months and is becoming increasingly popular with interior designers. It adds a very contemporary edge and a clean-cut finish, which is perfect for minimalist bathrooms. Slim black frames are key to this look and, when paired with black taps, they add a statement finish.
Mode Heath freestanding bath
The Mode Heath freestanding bath is simple yet luxurious. Featuring an organic shape, it’s a subtle design that could easily take centre stage. It also adds a clean and contemporary touch, especially when paired with a freestanding filler tap.
Mode Carter charcoal black heated towel rail
And finally, to keep you feeling warm on those often chilly summer mornings, I’ve picked out the Mode Carter charcoal black heated towel rail. It comes in a range of sizes to fit almost any space, whilst the black finish makes a real statement—a healthy change from classic chrome. You could even pair it with our Mode Spencer black taps and accessories for a cohesive finish.
