Here at VictoriaPlum.com. we’ve been gazing into our crystal ball (more of a snow globe actually!) and here are our predictions for the top bathroom trends in 2014:
1. We’ll be making the most of the space available to us

At the end of the day, not everyone lives in a mansion and one of the biggest causes of dissatisfaction in the home, according to a RIBA Report from April 2013, is a lack of space. But that doesn’t mean that cool contemporary spaces are unavailable to us. We just have to be creative with the space we already have.
For example, an under stairs cupboard can be cunningly transformed into a chic cloakroom and that small 3^rd^ bedroom could become a beautiful bathing haven. 2014 will see us all thinking differently about the space we have and thinking creatively about how we use it.

2. We’ll be brave with colours and try more unusual textures
We’ll start to see more unusual textures being used in our bathrooms in 2014. Wooden panelling, in a mixture of woods, placed horizontally is typical of some of the unusual ideas that will take hold.
Tadelakt (or Tadelact), a decorative and waterproof plaster inspired by Morroccan interiors, along with natural stone, both look beautiful and will inspire many budding designers over the next 12 months.

The overall trend will see sleek interiors being created but with an industrial effect. This will mean being brave with colour. Black, with geometric or animal print accessories, will become more popular in bathroom design.
3. Our personalities will shine through with our choice of accessories
If bright and bold feature walls are to be used, accessories will be kept simple and, where possible, white. Where neutral colours are used, colour will be injected via unusual sculptures and vases.
Animal prints and accessories, industrial lighting, white accessories against bold walls and black feature walls with animal print. We think all of these will prove a hit in 2014.

2014 is the year to be brave with the space you have. Instead of simply keeping up with the Jones’s, the bathroom should be a room that shows off your own unique personality.
