Can I convert an upstairs bedroom into a bathroom?
Any room can be turned into a bathroom, but some will be easier than others. There are a few key considerations—where the property’s soil stack (the pipe which removes waste water from the upstairs of a building) is located, how the current hot and cold water supplies are arranged, and how the room itself is structured, including the orientation of the floor joists.
Lambert Plumbing & Heating Ltd state: “There shouldn't be any reason why not. Most problems can be overcome, i.e. if you are some distance from your soil stack, your waste could be pumped by a Saniflo product. A bedroom can be tiled and tanked (waterproofed) just as well as any bathroom!”
Saniflo
As the experts at Lambert Plumbing & Heating Ltd mention, just about any space can be turned into a bathroom, even if it’s a fair distance away from the soil stack, using a Saniflo product.
Saniflo are one of the leading names in sanitary treatment products, which includes waste pumps and macerators.
What is a macerator?
Put simply, a macerator is a unit, powered by electricity, which can be attached to a toilet, basin, bath, shower (or a combination of all of these). Using a grinding or blending mechanism, it reduces solid waste to a liquefied form so it can be moved by small bore pipes to your soil stack.
