Coo..ee!: the inspiration
To find out a little more about the inspiration behind Coo..ee!, we chatted with Louise.
The first thing that immediately struck me about this painting is the colour blue. I love it! What inspired your colour palette for this piece?
Coo..ee! Is a cutie! Inspired by 1950s pinups, she’s a flirtatious temptress, seducing us whilst fluttering those mascara laden lashes surrounding her “come hither” eyes. She’s cheeky and fun ... “But oh! All my clothes fell off”!
I originally created this alluring lovely, in three colour ways: splash, blush and bloom. This blue is “bloom”, blues, mauves, silver and white, cool and calming, summer skies and twinkling seas. The cooling colours are perfect in high summer or any time to create a relaxing calm.
Out of the 4 paintings which form the basis for your bathroom collection (Kiss Kiss Bam Bam, The Serenade, Coo..ee! and Yum Yum), do you have a favourite?
I can’t possibly choose... I love each one for a different reason. Each piece was a complete favourite at the time of creating it as I have a total love affair with each work of art during the process. I mean, I love Kiss Kiss Bam Bam because she is my beloved girl and those pink flowers are my absolute fave! But The Serenade is also an extremely sentimental piece as it represents the family, motherhood and love, and each one of the fairies represents one of our children. Yum Yum is my love, my lover, my passion, my partner and then Coo..ee! who represents the cheeky, naughty, flirtatious side in us all ... perfect for a bathroom!
