4 of our favourite customer bathrooms recreated—Share your Style

Posted by Ruth Foster in Customers' rooms | 1 year ago 9 min read

At Victoria Plum, we’re proud to provide all the inspiration you need for your new bathroom. However, sometimes, it’s you—our creative customers—who inspire us! In this article, we recreated 4 of our favourite designs from the past year.

As you may or may not be aware, for almost a decade, we’ve been encouraging you to “Share your Style” by tagging us into your new bathroom pics or videos online, using the hashtag #VPShareYourStyle. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed seeing your stunning designs and sharing them with our thriving bathroom community online.

With regular inspirational content, not to mention fresh videos on the Victoria Plum YouTube channel, we’re always finding ways to share our passion for bathroom design with you. However, it can work both ways. Sometimes, we’ll see a bathroom that really makes us sit up and take notice.

In this article, we’ve picked out 4 of our favourite customer bathrooms and recreated them ourselves. By demonstrating how to get the look, we hope you’ll be just as inspired as us.

A work of art

@carrington_interiors on Instagram

Our first inspirational bathroom was designed by Victoria Plum customer Amber, a professional interior designer with over 10 years’ experience and founder of @carrington_interiors.

Amber was challenged to give a rundown master bathroom a whole new lease of life, and boy did she manage that! The client was keen to incorporate artwork into her design, which is where our exclusive Louise Dear shower wall panels, featuring many of Louise’s most famous works, came into their own. Amber also picked out some of the background colour in the pink countertop basin and completed the design in on-trend grey.

In recreating amber’s design, we provided additional storage in the form of the wall hung cabinet from the stylish Adler furniture range. Along with the back to wall toilet unit, each item of furniture matches for a cohesive and coordinated look. Another aspect of this bathroom we adore is the creative use of tiles. For a touch of tactile intrigue, you could opt for maxi metro tiles, complete with bevelled edges, as we have done in our recreation above.

For the bath, we chose the following:

We selected the following furniture and accompanying ceramics:

For the walls, we picked out the following:

Small but sweet

@thejourneyatno30 on Instagram

Whilst it may be small in size, this downstairs toilet from Victoria Plum customer @thejourneyatno30 on Instagram is certainly big in style. We absolutely adore the soft, yellow paint used around the walls. It reminds us of the new Dulux Colour of the Year for 2023, Wild Wonder. Described as an uplifting golden hue, we feel it’s the perfect colour to liven up a small space and bring positive energy to any bathroom.

Another key aspect of this cloakroom, which makes it all the more stylish, is the contemporary combination of black accents and white metro tiles. This gives the whole space a light, bright feel, whilst giving a nod to current bathroom trends. The false wall around the lower half of the room is a clever addition, providing much-needed shelf space for accessories and neatly housing the concealed cistern for the back to wall toilet.

Our take on this beautiful bathroom

In our recreation, we’ve kept faithful to the original design, with gorgeous Victorian style patterned floor tiles helping to break up the large blocks of white and black. However, we’ve made our own little addition, by placing an LED mirror above the basin—a welcome touch for any friend or house guest. You can find out more about this and other small bathrooms designed by our customers in our recent blog post.

Beautiful botanical

@jones_home_22 on Instagram

Botanical prints are a big bathroom trend this year, and it’s just one of the reasons why I love this traditional style bathroom by Victoria Plum customer Louise Jones (@jones_home_22 on Instagram).

The deep green wall panelling is just fabulous, complementing the wallpaper and clean, white brick tiles perfectly. To save on space, but continue the vintage theme, Louise has opted for a roll top shower bath, allowing time for a relaxing soak or an invigorating shower.

Most of the products featured in this bathroom come from our traditional Dulwich collection, including the stone grey furniture which goes really well with the overall colour palette. Meanwhile, wood effect flooring brings a warm, welcoming appeal to the overall design, with easy cleaning an added bonus. Other organic touches include a variety of pot plants that thrive in bathrooms and the bamboo bath mat.

Which products?

As mentioned above, to help keep things cohesive and coordinated, many of the products in this bathroom come from the same matching collection, including:

Around the walls and on the floor, we used the following products:

And, finally, we added the following heating and accessories to the bathroom:

Time to drift away

@beautiful_neutral on Instagram

Well, I don’t know about you, but I absolutely adore this peaceful, all-white bathroom. With the freestanding tub front and centre, it’s a little piece of paradise. The white palette lends itself beautifully to the more rustic elements, like the towel ladder and bath caddy. There is something quite “beachy” about this space; to me, it feels reminiscent of white sandy shores and driftwood.

Wall panelling is another big trend we’ve been seeing in bathrooms recently, and I particularly like the criss-cross design used here, all painted the same colour.

By mixing contemporary elements, such as the bath and wall hung vanity unit, with traditional products like the bath shower mixer tap and toilet, this bathroom is truly eclectic in its approach. Mixing styles is a brave choice, but can work really well. Subtle motif tiles help to break up the white space nicely, while the grey radiator also brings a touch of contrast to proceedings. For added storage space, the stylish open floorstanding unit works really well.
